Recent bans – June to September 2023

In the last quarter, the Registrar has banned 2 persons who have failed to comply with an order of the Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal (MVDT).

The Registrar received 2 complaints that a MVDT order had not been complied with for Forward Motion 101 Limited. The first complaint was awaiting a District Court appeal hearing. Following the District Court dismissing the appeal, a first breach was recorded. The second MVDT decision was also appealed through the District Court and the MVDT order was upheld, however, it was also not complied with. Following correspondence with the trader, they were banned from motor vehicle trading for a period of 5 years from 19 August 2022 to 18 August 2027. The ban was applied to Forward Motion 101 Limited and Joseph Colin Skudder (director).

On 21 August 2023, the Registrar received a complaint that a MVDT order had not been complied with. It was determined this was a first instance of non-compliance with a MVDT for the company, however, the director had been concerned in the management of a company that had previously had an instance of non-compliance recorded against. Following correspondence with the trader, an instance of non-compliance was recorded for the company, and a ban from motor vehicle trading for a period of for a period of 5 years from 13 June 2023 to 14 June 2028 was applied to Jack William Thompson.
