This section contains information for registered motor vehicle traders about your responsibilities as traders, including how to renew your registration every year and how to keep your details up-to-date. For companies, this includes updating information about company directors and management.
If you would like to pay your renewal fees by direct debit, you will need to set up an online account. Your online account will enable you to view your invoices online, in addition to receiving these by email.

Traders' responsibilities
Traders have a number of responsibilities under the Motor Vehicle Sales Act 2003. These include keeping records of sales and displaying information about used vehicles.

Renew your registration
Registered motor vehicle traders must renew their registration every year. You must provide your complete renewal application before your expiry date.

Maintain your registration
Motor vehicle traders must keep their registration information up-to-date. This doesn't cost anything, and it's a requirement under the Motor Vehicle Sales Act.

We only manage the registration of motor vehicle traders. For dealer plates, and other matters relating to your business, other agencies can help.

You can use the Motor Vehicle Traders Register online services either as a guest user or a registered user. If you want to pay your fee by direct debit, you will need to set up an online account first.
