Amendments to the Motor Vehicle Sales Act 2003

The Regulatory Systems (Economic Development) Amendment Bill, which makes changes to the Motor Vehicle Sales Act 2003, has had its first reading in Parliament and and you can now make a submission.

The proposed amendments seek to:

  1. Change some of the requirements around registering as a motor vehicle trader.
  2. Change some of the requirements relating to notification, when notifying that a new person is concerned in the management of a company registered as a motor vehicle trader.
  3. Change some of the information required to be contained on the register.
  4. Change the terms for sufficient service of a notice by removing service by fax and adding service by email (with specified exceptions)
